[PROJECT] Fire Emblem 7 Hack (Updated Jan 17, 2010)

Before I begin, I'd like to say that I welcome all constructive criticism, as long as it isn't about my dialouge writing. It stinks and it won't get any better. But if you bring up a good point liked [Character X] is way better than [Character Y], I'll definatly consider trying to fix that up.

Hope this topic doesn't become too much of a jumbled mess...

INTRODUCTION

If you haven't played Fire Emblem, it's basically a turn based RPG game. If it helps, think Advance Wars, but in RPG form...or (as a poor analogy) pokemon with tiles and no exp farming. It is very Fantasy themed, with magic, dragons, and evil. My version is a tounge-in-cheek hack (as I can't write dialouge at all really).

This game is my own hack of the GBA game Fire Emblem 7 (known plainly as Fire Emblem in english) (Note - This IS done on a ROM. I asked Cipher and have made sure that ROMs are rule-friendly. If any Mod needs proof, I can forward them the PM). If you are concerned about the legality of ROMs, you can keep one for up to 24 hours if you do not own a copy of the game, and IIRC as long as you want if you do own a copy.

STORYLINE

The storyline is much borrowed from the original FE7 game. You will be promped to input a name and a gender. You now take on the role of the tactician of the group an order units around a map in order to win the battle and advnace the storyline.

If you're looking for a more traditional storyline introduction, you will be given one a the start of Chapter 10 (~2 hours in)

As you progress, you will meet characters from:
- Tales of Vesperia
- Tales of Symphonia
- Super Robot Wars: Original Generation
- Fire Emblem 6: Sword of Seals
- Fire Emblem 7: The Blazing Sword
- Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radience
- Baten Kaitos
- Lunar: Dragon Song
- Shining Force
- Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars
- And, of course, Originals

CURRENT PROGRESS (As of Jan 10)

- 100% playable character development
- 100% storyline text
- 0% support text
- 66% balancing of enemies
- 83% boss development (Made, but not balanced based on your character's level at the time)
- 3% Portrait Creation
- 0% Sprite Recolouring
- 0% Augery Readngs

Isn't that Lyn, Kent and Whatzizname? Well, good screens, nice editing, and I'm hoping to play it and find a good, book-like storyline... So their names are Rita and Tilling... Well, that's a field you will HAVE to channel the spirit of creativity through your mind, as 'Tilling' doesn't sound too good to me. So am I right in guessing one town's called 'Aspio'? Good idea of getting a mage in the sttart, there were too few of magicians, but a monk would be better.

Will Creature Campaign mode be available like in Sacred Stones and higher versions?

I haven't editted the sprites yet. So, yes, it is Lyn, Kent, and Sain.

I inserted the everybody who gave me the idea in the past. He refused to be called by his first name, so we always called him Tilling. >_>. Bad idea? Probably.

I tried balancing the game a bit...so you'll get a Monk later than Lucius. Though I suspect because of my style of play, I've got some inbalances.

Yup. If/When I get to Sacred Stones, I'll be leaving it in. However, I'll likely change the game to have much more regular enemies than monsters.

Yup, that's bad. Well, what kind of person'd want to be called by his surname I'll never know.

Not really good. Lucius was late enough, I can't keep my frustration down if I've to wait longer than Lucius (Is he a boy or girl? O_o A truth no one will know.) because I like Bishops. Though in FE, Bishops hold a different meaning than in Christianity or Chess.

Perrrrrfect. I hated always facing Revenants, Bael, those eye... Thingies... Tarvos (I wonder what the plural of 'Tarvos' is? I suppose it's still Tarvos.) and Wights.

Nintendo seems to think otherwise. I'd take that ROM link down, too; you don't want PokemonAcanthite.com to be shut down, do you? The .ips should be fine, though.

Even if you do have admin permission, it's still illegal, and Nintendo can still close down the site if they find out.

After some research, you are right, but there are massive difficulties with it. I'll admit, if Nintendo comes down here, threatens Cipher beacuse of me, I'll pull this down. However, I think before then, Mageknight404 will get a call on his YouTube account (Which breaks both the rules of spreading illegal wares AND providing them on YouTube), and, being privy to some information from him, I'll have a heads up on their actions. Nintendo doesn't seem to be actively enforcing their rules, and I think this describes it best:

Long story short: The rules on ROMs are too iffy to really put anything into legal action and Nintendo really doesn't get anythign out of it.

1) Lucius is a guy. Get Lucius and Serra to support and she'll even comment Lucius looks like a girl.
2) You aren't getting Lucius

Well, you'll hate them more when you fight them if/when I get to it. My plan is to make humans the weaker of the two enemies and make monsters a real pain. Remember how the Zombies were easy? I'll probably make them insane meat shields with ~70 HP and ~24 attack when Level 20 Promoted.

Not a Fire Emblem fan, but I wish you luck on your project.

On a side note, despite the fact that most people don't care about breaking the law because nothing is going to happen, it IS against the rules here to post roms, or even talk about them, so don't get mad if it gets taken down. I really don't care, but even so, I don't use roms or hacks myself. I'm one of those guys that likes too spend hard earned cash rather then get it for free. Yeah, I suck.

A big Fire Emblem and Tales of Symphonia fan, so i'm glad to see them come together in a project. The screen shots look nice, and the storyline sounds good so far.
